My Philosophy
Hey there! My name is Allison Garcia and I am a registered dietitian passionate about eating intuitively and enjoying GOOD FOOD. My goal is to share the beauty of life without food rules, loving and respecting your body at every life stage, and still being able to achieve your health goals without obsessing about your weight on the scale.
I started my private practice because I got tired of working in our current healthcare system and toxic diet culture. I felt like I was making little-to-no impact on people’s long-term health and wellbeing due to the lack of time for individualized care and value of nutrition as a primary therapy. Being “healthy” is so much more that what you weigh on the scale. How you feel emotionally and physically, how you sleep, your level and types of movement, what and how you eat, and so many other factors play a role in your overall health.
My goal is to show people that nutrition shouldn't have to be complicated or stressful. Food rules and fad diets should be a thing of the past. I hope that I can show you that a balanced lifestyle can be achieved with ALL foods, and that healthy eating looks different for everyone.
A Bit About Me
I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Nutritional Science at Cornell University. After over 1200 hours of supervised dietetics practice with the Wellness Workdays Dietetic Internship, I passed the Commission on Dietetic Registration exam and became credentialed as a registered dietitian in 2019. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of clinical settings including acute care, short and longterm care units and outpatient clinics.
My passion for Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size started after working my first job out of college at a weight loss clinic. I saw and experienced major mental and physical damage that was caused by chronic dieting and constant restriction. Intuitive eating and mindfulness practices helped me and others I’ve worked with since break the cycle of yo-yo dieting, extreme weight fluctuations, and ultimately build a better relationship with food and our bodies. Being able to help others foster sustainable, anti-diet lifestyle habits has been such an exciting and fulfilling experience, and I would be honored to work with you on your own journey to better health.
I am based in Orange County with my husband Mario and our 2 golden retrievers Simba & Nala. I’m half-Korean but can speak way more Spanish than I do Korean (we’re hoping to work on that some day lol). Regardless, my love of kimchi and Korean food runs deep, and my obsession with spice is probably what kickstarted my love of food and experiencing the flavors of different cultures. When I’m not talking about food and nutrition, I’m usually working on some kind of home improvement project, watching the latest anime, or planning the next travel adventure!
